Aprendizaje basado en proyectos para mejorar la enseñanza en las clases de Estructuras de Hormigón Armado del Grado en Ingeniería de Tecnologías Industriales

La asignatura Estructuras de Hormigón Armado se imparte en el segundo cuatrimestre del tercer curso del Grado en Ingeniería de Tecnologías Industriales. La asignatura supone el primer contacto de los alumnos con las estructuras de hormigón armado. Históricamente, los alumnos han mostrado cierta dificultad en el aprendizaje de esta materia debido principalmente a tres motivos: (i) la dificultad de relacionar los contenidos de la misma con los aprendidos en asignaturas precedentes del mismo área de conocimiento; (ii) la complejidad que supone la compresión del comportamiento estructural de un material heterogéneo; y (iii) la laboriosidad asociada a la aplicación práctica de la normativa vigente que regula el proyecto de este tipo de estructuras. Con el objetivo de facilitar al alumno el aprendizaje de esta materia y vencer las dificultades mencionadas se implementó el siguiente Ciclo de Mejora en el Aula. Dicho ciclo se centra en la reorganización completa de los contenidos de la asignatura estableciendo como hilo conductor el desarrollo de un proyecto real de una estructura de hormigón armado. El objetivo de dicho proyecto es tanto servir de guía al alumno en la interiorización de los contenidos como de generar la motivación e interés necesarios que le ayuden a completar con éxito su experiencia de aprendizaje. Dicho ciclo de mejora de asignatura completa se enmarca en la fase de permanencia del Programa de Formación en Innovación Docente del Profesorado de la Universidad de Sevilla.

Abstract

The subject, Reinforced Concrete Structures, is taught in the second quarter of the third year of the Degree on the Industrial Technology Engineering. It is supposed that the subject is the first contact of the students with the reinforced concrete structures. Historically, the students have shown some difficulties in learning this subject, mainly due to three reasons: (i) the difficulty in relating these contents to the ones learned in previous subjects of the same knowledge area; (ii) the complexity involved in the understanding of the structural behaviour of a heterogeneous material; and (iii) the diligence associated with the practical application of the current standards that regulate the project of reinforced concrete structures. In order to make easier for the students the learning of this matter and overcome the mentioned difficulties, the following classroom improvement cycle was implemented. This cycle is focused on the complete reorganization of the contents of the subjects establishing as common thread the development of a real project of a reinforced-concrete structure. The objective of this project is both to serve as a guide to the students in the internalization of the contents and to generate the necessary motivation and interest which help them complete successfully their learning experience. This improvement cycle, for a full-term subject, is framed within the stay phase of the Training and Teaching Innovation Program for the teachers of the University of Seville.
