High Reflectivity Brillouin Mirror in the Inertial Regime

Description

We present a new stationary solution of the coherent 3-wave model of SBS, when a strong acoustic dispersion in taken into account. This high-reflectivity Brillouin mirror is characterized by an inverted repartition of the acoustic intensity, which increases in the direction of the pump wave. The 1D coherent 3-wave model of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in optical fibers, now widely accepted, was historically derived from models of SBS in laser-plasma interaction. A key difference is that the inertial response of the matter wave can be neglected in standard optical fibers. This is not always the case in photonic crystal fibers, where the acoustic dispersion can have a significant influence on the dynamics of SBS
