Description
Myths, symbols and rituals of carnival survive from ancient times, preserving their affinities among different cultures. Carnival is strictly connected with agricultural life: each of its manifestations is provided to propitiate growth and health. As nature follows a circle through the rhythm of the seasons, carnival expresses the circularity of the process of birth, death and regeneration. The psychological and anthropological analysis and both historical and geographical comparison of its different aspects, permits to explain the process that led carnival to its actual reality.
