Cambios recientes en la dinámica eólica del sistema de dunas activas del Parque Nacional de Doñana
Description
Recent changes in aeolian dynamics changes in the active dune system at Doñana National Park
Dune dynamics has been monitored for two different periods (1956-1977/ 1977-2001) by using
photogrammetric data sets and GIS techniques. Analysis include comparison of dune-slacks extensions,
dune advance rates and dune topo-volummetric conditions. Results from these mid-term analysis show a
reduction of dune ridge areas, a slowing down of dune front advances and a morphological change of
dune ridges, by gaining elevation at the crest zone, becoming narrower and modifying windward profile
from convex to concave. All these recorded changes are interpreted as indicators of a stabilization
process. This process could be considered within a long-term stabilization trend, behind which human
action plays a significant role.
