Application to Real Case Studies

Description

In this chapter we present the results of the calculation of the LCOEn for three representative case studies. The first case study is the Smart Polygeneration Microgrid (SPM) at the Savona Campus of the University of Genoa (Italy), a low voltage microgrid which includes both thermal and electrical generators and loads. The second case study is the Smart Energy Building (SEB), also placed at the Savona Campus, which represents a nanogrid with thermal and electrical devices. Finally, the third case study covers the ERESMAGrid, an electrical microgrid at the Campus of Vegazana of the University of León (Spain), which includes several renewable energy generators and an electrochemical storage system. In the aforesaid three cases, a probabilistic approach based on Monte Carlo method is applied, modeling the uncertainty of the main input parameters by suitable statistical distributions.
