Cartilage is the basic elastic tissue supporting mechanical loads in the knee joint. Meniscectomy alters the trasmission of stresses and causes irreversible cartilage damage. The Authors of this paper reviewed 50 cases of arthroscopic medial meniscectomy without cartilage damage and comtared them to 50 similar cases, but with cartilage damage.
