Estudio Arqueoastronómico del Santuario Ibero-Romano de Torreparedones (Baena, Córdoba)

Se presenta un estudio arqueoastronómico del templo B (siglo I d.C.) del santuario iberoromano de Virtus Iulia (la turdetana Ituci), dedicado a Caelestis Iuno Lucina, y reconstruido en el Parque Arqueológico de Torreparedones. El emplazamiento está asociado a un calendario de horizonte, en el que los picos de Jabalcuz y Ahíllo marcan el orto solar en los equinoccios y el solsticio invernal, respectivamente. Marcadores similares han sido documentados en otros santuarios iberos. La orientación de la cella sigue los puntos cardinales, quedando el betilo estiliforme y la columna de carga en la dirección N-S. Los detalles de la reconstrucción arqueológica sugieren un ambiente de penumbra para las prácticas cultuales. Un lucernario-colimador en el techo habría proyectado un rayo de luz sobre el betilo cada mediodía solar, recorriendo su fuste con el ciclo de las estaciones, como se documenta con la recreación practicada, que amplía las posibilidades interpretativas hasta ahora manejadas.

Abstract

This paper reports an study on the Ibero-Roman sanctuary (temple B, first century AD) in Virtus Iulia (the Turdetanian Ituci), devoted to Caelestis Iuno Lucina, nowadays reconstructed in the Archeological Park of Torreparedones. The mountains of Jabalcuz and Ahíllo, in the eastern skyline, mark the position of the sunrise during the equinox and the winter solstice, respectively. Similar markers have been previously reported for other Iberian sanctuaries. The cella is oriented following the cardinal points. The divinity, a column shaped betilo, and the central pillar stand in the N-S direction. The archeological reconstruction suggests an atmosphere of gloom for cultic practices. A skylight in the roof would have projected a beam of light on the betilo each solar noon. Along the year the lighted band would have moved from top to down the betilo, as shown in the practiced recreation. This extends the set of interpretive possibilities so far considered.
