EP-colonies: Micro-Organisms in a Cell-like Environment

The aim of this note is to introduce a model for describing populations of extremely simple organisms which live in and interact with a dynamically changing cell-like environment. In addition to the definition of the notion, we present examples illustrating some possible properties of these constructs and propose some bio-inspired problems to study.
