Distribution of virulence genes in clinical and environmental vibrio cholerae strains in Bangladesh

Description

Vibrio cholerae, an environmental organism, is a facultative human pathogen. Here, we report the virulence profiles, comprising 18 genetic markers, of 102 clinical and 692 environmental V. cholerae strains isolated in Bangladesh between March 2004 and January 2006, showing the variability of virulence determinants within the context of public health. © 2013, American Society for Microbiology.
