Description

SKIP version 1.2 (Software Keyboard for Impaired Users; in Italian: Tastiera Software per Utenti Disabili) is a flexible framework for implementing virtual keyboards for improving the efficiency of typing by motor-impaired or non-expert users. To this aim, a powerful orthogonal framework has been used in which the keyboard is defined as a 2-D regular array of keys, so that the number of pressed keys and the key access time are significantly reduced. The framework, which runs on PC's equipped with Windows, can be flexibly used to implement keyboards with very different layouts and sizes, word completion/prediction, and iconic/audio suggestion. The present release concerns the implemention of a set of basic keyboards which are specific and optimized for different languages (3) and for A.A.C. by severely motor-impaired users (1): IT-Skip (Italian), EN-Skip (English), Es-Skip (Spanish), Tablet-Skip (Tablet for A.A.C.).
