How to shape favourable flows for a public transportation system such as a Demand Responsive Transport

Description

Our contribution involves the transport modelling. It aims to identify and to illustrate what are the available levers to provide coherent and massive flows, which are favorable to public transportation supply and more precisely to Demand Responsive Transport systems. Three main levers are discussed : - the first one involves the urban planning, which choices define the general matrix of the origins and destinations of the flows - the second deals with the public transportation supply, which price setting may encourage people to group to travel together - the third is about the structure and the functioning of the roads network, which, through its metric, may provide more or less concentrated and short range flows. We present and illustrate these levers through different sites of experiment in France and through simulations using GIS.
