Description
This paper describes the development of a dual frequency switchable Fresnel reflectarray (RA) antenna for communication between satellites and an unmanned aerial vehicle. The operation frequency of the antenna is switched by a PIN diode soldered on each patch of RA. First, the shape of the patch is designed on the assumption of having a simplified model of ON/OFF diode states. Next, an equivalent circuit is applied to the designed patches and the influence that the components exert to the antenna radiation pattern is investigated. The diode chip is also characterized.
