D-band Quasi-Yagi antenna in IPD process

Description

In this paper, we present the design of a D-band Quasi-Yagi antenna for in-package integration. This antenna consists of a half-wavelength dipole element and two directors elements to achieve higher directivity. The ground plane position from the driven dipole is also chosen to emulate a reflector behavior. The dipole is excited trough a microstrip line, a balun and a coplanar stripline. This quasi-yagi antenna exhibits end-fire radiation pattern. Simulated matching bandwidth at -10 dB level is 7% and a peak gain of 5.2 dBi at 120 GHz is obtained. The antenna has been fabricated recently and measurement with a dedicated set-up will be presented in the final paper.
