Le ossa soprannumerarie del piede

Description

The accessory ossicles of the foot have a rather low incidence rate and some of them are very rare. Sometime they are diagnosed as traumatic elements, from which they can be distinguished because of their typical site, of the decised interline that separates them from adjacent bone and, above all, because of their usual bilaterality. Although usually asymptomatic, they can cause painful symptoms in presence of concomitant factors of different nature; mechanical, inflammatory, osteochondritic and tumoral.
