Description
The results of an experimental study concerning the determination of thermophysical
properties of thermal insulators are presented. The temperature-dependent thermal diffusivity and
the normalised volumetric heat capacity are simultaneously identified by a measurement of the
time-temperature response of the material subjected to a transient heating. Several results related
to the European standard reference for thermal conductivity of insulators (resin-bonded glass fibre
board BCR 64) are presented and compared with certified data and with a simplified transient
technique. A first series of results for EPB (expanded perlite board) is also reported.
