External framework for promoting competitiveness in the tourism sector. The Setúbal Peninsula case

Este trabalho pretende identificar as variáveis que influenciam a competitividade de um destino turístico, face a destinos alternativos. Para tal, enquadrou-se do ponto de vista teórico o tema utilizando a metodologia do estudo de caso, através do instrumento entrevista, realizou-se uma analise de gestão de destino à região, tentando-se caracterizar quatro componentes: comportamento do consumidor da Região, os impactos do turismo na economia local, o estudo dos mercados e os recursos humanos para a gestão do destino.

Abstract

The objective of this work is to identify the variables, which could influence the competitiveness of tourist destination taking into consideration alternatives. In order to analyze this subject we defined the theoretical framework and used it for the interview methodology and the audit of regional destinations in order to define the characteristics of four components: regional consumer behaviour, the impacts of tourism on regional economies, market research and human recourses for destination management.
