Description

140 coins are presented that come from a small treasure found around Écija, Seville (Spain), which is the only accessible part of a larger set of coins, all of them bronze pieces corresponding to the last third of the 4th century A.D., the most belated specimen of which (393-395) dates back to the times of Honorius. The fragmentary character of this sample of material, makes impossible an all-out comparison with other contemporary finds, although it provides enough evidence to classify it as belonging to the short-range Theodosian sets and to stablish the date of the cache at the end of the first quarter of the 5th century.
