Synthesis and anti-inflammatory activity of esters derived from 5-aryl-1,2-dihydro-2-(2-hydroxyethyl)-3H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiones

Description

The title esters I [R = Me, i-Pr, cyclopropyl, 3,4,5-(MeO)3C6H2; Ar = Ph, 4-ClC6H4, 4-MeOC6H4] were prepd. by regioselective acylation of (hydroxyethyl)triazones II with RCOCl. I were evaluated for antipyretic and anti-inflammatory activities. Nearly all derivs. and in particular I [R = i-Pr, 3,4,5-(MeO)3C6H2, Ar = 4-ClC6H4; R = cyclopropyl, Ar = 4-MeOC6H4] exhibited antiphlogistic properties but were lacking in antipyretic activity.
